Introducing FlickerMill Candles
FlickerMill Candles
I recently met Olivia, with my husband, who we became friends with instantly. We, soon after, got to meet her husband Eric and we started getting to know them as a couple. Talk about a POWER COUPLE!
We each shared stories of our miscarriages and learned she had been on an IVF journey for years. Their first pregnancy ended up with a miscarriage, but their second one was successful and their beautiful daughter is now 2 years old. They are on their 2nd IVF journey now.
If you do not know anything about IVFs, it is a very expensive journey. With the jobs they had when they first started, she owns a nonprofit, which I will go into later, and he was a firefighter. They couldn’t possibly afford to do such a drastic action to get what they wanted as a happily married couple: a baby of their own.
They were determined and eventually started FlickerMill Candles to help fund this expensive procedure. They were surprised how successful with this idea, that was thought of to help fund, actually blew up in popularity in their local area! They were in Colorado at the time. They moved here not too long ago and are starting their journey for their 2nd IVF procedure.
Because this had become such a success, they are donating a percentage of their proceeds to provide hope and inspiration for those going through the same journey.
Everything they use is 100% organic and non-toxic and they also pour each candle with their own hands.
YFFR
YFFR is the nonprofit organization Olivia created. It stands for Yoga For First Responders. She has brought back the origin of the yoga practice, focusing on breathing techniques and teaching techniques that helps people, first responders, how to deal with current stress in a healthy way. She had conducted scientific research proving the significant decrease in PTSD after a traumatic experience.
Through this work, she met her husband, Eric, and are now doing this together, as well as the candles. He is also now an author.
Everyday Stoicism for Public Safety: Written by Eric M. Brenneman
Eric, being a firefighter himself, know the stress and the trauma involved in the industry of saving lives. He embarked in a long journey of finding a way to deal with this kind of stuff without falling into deep depression and eventually, the possibility of, suicide. Many first responders and military fall into this “way of life”, but is not living life. What do we do?
Eric found stoicism. Being stoic basically means being able to “choose” between being reactive or proactive in situations out of our control. He read and found ways be able to enjoy life and spend quality time with his little family without the reactiveness, depression, and thoughts of suicide (from being a fire fighter). This is HUGE! Also, I LOVE his book! Highly recommend! Especially for men.
On top of all of this, they also run a baby equipment rental!
For CHI’s Birthday, in April 26th, it will be happening at their location, at FlickerMill Candle’s.
